#Givethanks, Thanksgiving and an NFL tradition

Thanksgiving is a time of giving thanks, eating a lot of turkey, spending time with family, and most of all, the biggest tradition, watching football.

The history of football on Thanksgiving dates back to 1920 and in 1934 the Detroit Lions played their first Thanksgiving game losing to the Chicago Bears, 19-16. 26,000 tickets were sold two weeks prior selling out the game at the University of Detroit Stadium. The 1934 Lions entered the Bears game with a record of 10-1. The next year, the Detroit Lions won the 1935 NFL Championship. Ever since then, football on Thanksgiving Day has become a tradition that started in Detroit. Check out more of the history and Thanksgiving Day Results from 1920-2012

As side from tradition, think about what you are most thankful for?

Family
Health
Joy
Love
Happiness

And give thanks!

Have A Happy Thanksgiving!
